    Content Policy & Distribution Guidelines

Mission Control distributes content to Vevo and other digital platforms. Content submitted for Vevo distribution must meet Vevo's requirements for premium music content, technical delivery, and rights compliance. These guidelines explain how Mission Control applies those requirements when evaluating submissions. Other distribution platforms may have additional or different requirements.

    Section 01

    Premium music content

Vevo distribution is intended for professionally produced music content that offers value to fans through an engaging creative presentation or a connection to an artist's identity, personality, or story.

A large budget or a particular visual style is not required. Creative storytelling, animation, visual effects, and experimental filmmaking can all support a strong music video. What matters is the finished work: its production quality, creative direction, and suitability for the platform.

Meeting technical requirements alone does not establish content eligibility. A video can meet the required file format and resolution while still falling short of the quality and editorial standards required for distribution.

    Section 02

    Generative AI and synthetic people

Mission Control evaluates AI-generated content for production quality, creative presentation, rights compliance, and suitability for Vevo distribution. Using AI does not by itself establish eligibility.

Videos featuring AI-generated people intended to look real may be declined when their appearance, movement, or overall presentation is visibly synthetic or falls short of professional production standards. Repetitive generated scenes, inconsistent characters, and minimally developed visuals can also fall short of premium content expectations.

High-quality visual effects and convincing digital characters may be considered when they meet the required production and rights standards. Stylized animation and deliberately experimental visuals may also be considered in context.

Mission Control recognizes that artificial, distorted, aged, or technically imperfect imagery can be an intentional creative choice. We consider how those choices function within the video and, where relevant, the artist's wider body of work. An occasional experimental release may provide different context from a catalog built around repetitive generated visuals. There is no numerical allowance, automatic exception, or guarantee of acceptance for either approach.

An explanation of artistic intent does not override applicable content, technical, or rights requirements. Final eligibility remains subject to Vevo's requirements and review.

    Section 03

    Sexualized and suggestive imagery

Mature themes, sexuality, and provocative imagery are not automatically disqualifying. All submissions must comply with the applicable platform restrictions on sexual content and other restricted material.

Mission Control may decline content whose overall presentation relies predominantly on sexualized or fetish-oriented imagery to attract attention, with limited creative development or connection to the music or artist. Examples may include repetitive suggestive poses or movements presented as the video's central visual element.

We consider the prominence, repetition, and context of the imagery within the finished work. These considerations apply to both AI-generated and traditionally produced content. Acceptance, availability, and monetization may be subject to different platform requirements.

    Section 04

    Rights, licensing, and AI disclosure

You must own or obtain all rights, licenses, and permissions needed to distribute every element of your submission commercially, including the composition, sound recording, visuals, and any third-party material.

Disclose the use of generative AI in the composition, sound recording, or visuals to Mission Control when submitting content. If the submission process does not provide a place for that information, contact our support team.

Content created using generative AI technologies trained on copyrighted or other protected material without the necessary rights-holder authorizations is not eligible for distribution. AI-generated material must also carry the rights and permissions required for commercial distribution. Paying for an AI service or receiving a commercial-use license does not, by itself, establish that every necessary authorization has been obtained.

Mission Control may request information about the tools used, applicable licenses, and relevant rights or authorizations. A rights-related request for documentation is separate from an editorial assessment of production quality.

    Section 05

    Review and distribution eligibility

Mission Control evaluates the finished submission as a whole, including its production quality, creative presentation, rights compliance, and alignment with the applicable distribution requirements.

These examples explain our approach; they are not an exhaustive checklist. No particular budget, technique, aesthetic, or AI tool guarantees eligibility. Content accepted by another service may still be ineligible for Vevo distribution.

Mission Control may decline submissions or remove, suspend, or restrict distribution in accordance with our Terms of Service and applicable platform requirements. Distribution, availability, monetization, and performance are not guaranteed.

If you have questions about an eligibility decision or believe additional context may be relevant, please contact our support team. Providing additional information or revised content does not guarantee acceptance.

    Section 06

    Related policies and updates

These guidelines supplement our Terms of Service and Code of Conduct. They explain Mission Control's application of distribution requirements and do not replace Vevo's or other platforms' applicable policies.

We may update these guidelines as platform requirements and production technologies evolve.
